Llanberis enjoys a stunning lakeside location at the foot of Snowdon. Probably most famous for its Snowdon Mountain Railway which climbs almost to the summit and the stunning Hafod Eryri Visitor Centre.
Llanberis is also a great area for walking, and most outdoor fans come for this. Follow the self-guided Llanberis Heritage Trails taking you to fascinating places around the village.
Beddgelert is undoubtedly Snowdonia’s loveliest village. The village, in keeping with its location in the Snowdonia National Park, is picturesque and unspoilt. Centred around the confluence of 2 rivers, its easy to spend a full day in and around this lovely valley.
The beautiful Aberglaslyn Pass and the Nant Gwynant valley are near-by neighbours. Wooded vales, rocky slopes and mountain lakes fill the surrounding countryside.
Betws-y-Coed is known as the gateway to Snowdonia, and is a busy village full of shops selling everything from mountain gear to rather dubious souvenirs! Some great places to eat including the Grill Room at the Royal Oak.
Plenty to see in the village itself or you can head further afield with bike hire or a scramble up the rocky narrow footpath to Swallow Falls northwest from the village
Zip World actually has several locations in the area. Penrhyn Quarry is home to the fastest zip line in the world, Velocity 2, where you can fly 500m above the bright blue quarry lake. Fforest is near Betws Y Coed and as the name suggests features zip lines through tree tops.
Finally Caverns is set in a historic slate mine near Blaenau Ffestiniog, where the various nooks, crannies, tunnels and chasms have been brought back to life with 13 zip lines, as well as via ferrata, rope bridges & tightropes.
How about combining some art with a light lunch or morning coffee? Plas Glyn-y-Weddw is owned by a charitable trust and has a nice little cafe in an orangery alongside the main house. Entrance is free although the car parking is chargeable.
The house is situated in 12 acres of woodland with some pleasant paths you are welcome to use. The house itself has changing art collections and is a great option for when the weather isnt as kind. Not the best signposted, follow signs to beach, then Oriel Gallery
